International Women's Day Celebration at DEH
Department of English and Humanities celebrated “Pledge for Parity: 50/50 by 2030” on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2016 on Tuesday, 8at 11 am in the Auditorium, Campus A. The event became interactive through a casual adda, documentary screening Doridrota o Nari by NasirUzzaman, reading out extracts from different female authors such as Mina Farah’s Ajker Diner Ekti Strir Potro, Tony Morrison’s The Bluest Eye by the students, talking about participation of Women during Language Movement , presentation on “Women in the market and the concept of Women’s Day”. Marking the day, Professor Shamsad Mortuza recited his own poem and Dr. Azfar Hussain recited his own translation Prurushtontrer Tomra Jara from Martha Viyanuyever. The event ended with taking five pledges through collecting palm prints which was inaugurated by the honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Jahirul Haque. Later, the students, faculty and guests left their palm prints on the boards confronting the pledges.
