DEH Organizes Workshop on “Strategies for Research and Writing”

The Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized a two-part workshop titled “Strategies for Research and Writing.” The first part, focusing on Academic Writing, was held during the Summer 2021 semester, and the second part, focusing on Research, was held on November 20, 2021. Both the sessions were conducted by Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman, Associate Professor and Head of DEH, The aim of the workshop was to acquaint the students of ULAB with the standard methods and strategies of approaching, conducting and presenting research papers, proposals, and reports in an organized manner.

Part II of the workshop reiterated the ideas presented in Part I which included the dos and don'ts of formal writing. Part II focused on developing a research topic and research questions, conducting a background study, literature review, and using primary and secondary sources. As the capacity to conduct research is required for students of every discipline, the workshop generated interest amongst students from different departments at ULAB such as DEH, BBA, and MSJ. Students actively participated in the workshop and strengthened their conceptions regarding different elements of research.
