DEH Organizes Workshop on “Writing SOPs”

The Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized a workshop on “Writing SOPs” (Statements of Purpose) on April 10, 2022. The session was conducted by Dr. Sohana Manzoor, Associate Professor, DEH, aiming to enlighten DEH’s thesis/internship/non-thesis students of the Spring 2022 term about the standard procedures and techniques for writing an impeccable Statement of Purpose (SoP), which is one of the most vital documents that students have to submit to apply for higher studies abroad.

The facilitator started the workshop by providing a brief overview of all the necessary documents that are required for applying for higher studies, the SoP being one of them. Subsequently, the workshop highlighted how to exhibit applicants’ academic achievements, professional experiences, and a genuine interest in the degree that they are applying for in an active, positive, and concise manner.

Towards the end of the workshop, a few samples of outstanding SoPs were shown to the participants to exemplify and sum up the significant points that were discussed throughout the session. The workshop ended with an interactive question-answer session, where the facilitator provided her valuable insights into the queries and concerns that the students raised.

This workshop is part of the series of mandatory workshops designed specially for students of ENG413/498/499 of each term.
