The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a 3-minute presentation on August 25, 2022 to select a representative for the upcoming 8th DEH Inter-University Student Conference and Cultural Competition. Six students submitted abstracts after an open call was circulated by the department. With the growing interest among students to participate in different conferences, the department adopted this method of selection to encourage participation and healthy competition among the students as well as to ensure transparency in the selection process.

The 3-Minute Presentations started with a brief introduction by the event coordinator, Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Associate Professor, DEH, with support from the Conference Coordinator, Sheikh Nahiyan, Lecturer, DEH. Of the six participants, five students presented their ideas in accordance with the theme of this year’s conference, "Facets and Faces of Conflict." The presenters were Amreeta Lethe Chowdhury, Ereti Ridhil Rahman, Rupak Saha, Ismat Murshid Khan, and Ritobina Ria Dey. Amreeta and Ereti highlighted differently the conflicts faced by the transgender communities. Ismat spoke about how language helped Ukraine emerge as an independent country. Rupak focused on how Bengal was freed from British colonialism, leaving the new nations with unresolved conflicts, while Ritobina presented on the history of the holocaust.

Following the presentation was a question and answer session that the presenters responded to. This further helped them with ideas and suggestions for improvement on their presentations and future articles. The session ended with words of appreciation from the Head of the Department, Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman.
