Creative Writing Workshop with Dr. Fayeza Hasanat

The Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a creative writing workshop on December 15, 2022. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Fayeza Hasanat, author, academic, translator, and Fulbright scholar, currently teaching in the Department of English, University of Central Florida, USA.

Titled “What’s the Point? In Search of a Writerly Reason,” the hour-long workshop examined various aspects of creative fiction and creative non-fiction, including perspectives and points of view, establishing writing ground, justifying the purpose, and most importantly, explored a writer’s individual writing process.

Participants had been requested to bring their writing samples (even just a paragraph or a stanza) to share. Faculty and students who attended the workshop peer-reviewed the samples and shared their experiences with writing.

The workshop also touched on different areas of creative writing (fiction and non-fiction), critical theory, and translation studies.
