The Department of English and Humanities at ULAB organized an online workshop titled, “Presentation Skills and What's Next” on September 12, 2024. The session was conducted by Nadia Rahman, Assistant Professor, DEH, ULAB, and was specifically designed for undergraduate students in their final semester to help prepare them for their future lives in higher education or jobs.

Ms. Nadia Rahman addressed the key differences between academic and career-based presentations, ensuring that students were made aware of the distinctions. She suggested certain tactics and features to the students that will help them identify the makings of a memorable presentation such as being mindful about gestures, tones, and maintaining eye contact. Furthermore, she pointed out the ways in which common mistakes made by students during presentations can be detected, and also recommended ways on how they can be avoided.

In the second half of the workshop, Ms. Rahman spoke to the students specifically about what to keep in mind if they planned to apply for higher studies abroad. She emphasized that a higher degree would make the students more competitive in the job market.

The workshop ended with an insightful question and answer session with the students.
