On March 20, 2025, the Department of English and Humanities at ULAB hosted a workshop on “Writing CVs and Cover Letters,” facilitated by Assistant Professor, DEH, ULAB, Ms. Nadia Rahman. The session targeted students from ENG 4208, ENG 4298, and ENG 4299, as well as MA students, to equip them with the required skills to create effective CVs and cover letters.

Ms. Rahman began the workshop by talking about cover letters, stressing their role as a preview of one’s CV, and outlining their importance, types, and format. She emphasized on the necessity of crafting a compelling narrative and tailoring key skills and experience to align with the target workplace.

Shifting to CVs, Ms. Rahman highlighted the value of self-assessment in identifying one’s unique skills, experiences, and knowledge in their CVs. Students were encouraged to reflect on their personal experiences and accomplishments to extract skills to present in their CVs.

Students were provided with a detailed checklist and formatting guidelines to help them craft well-rounded CVs and cover letters.
