The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized an online workshop titled “CV and Cover Letter Writing” on Thursday, November 13, 2025. This workshop was facilitated by Ms. Nadia Rahman, Assistant Professor, DEH. It was designed for the undergraduate students enrolled in the courses ENG 4208, ENG 4298, and ENG 4299. The Masters students were encouraged to attend the workshop as well.

The workshop’s objective was to instill the habit of organizing and presenting one’s CV and cover letter with professionalism and efficiency. The key elements that must be present in a student’s CV were discussed. These elements include educational background, working experience, tested skills, history of pertinent extracurricular activities, and volunteer work. Ms. Rahman presented the students with a set of questions that made them rethink and analyze the way they have been acquiring skills throughout their undergraduate years, and how to truly maximize their potential according to their aspirations.

The facilitator emphasized on highlighting the skillset that is the most relevant to the position or organization the student aspires to join. She impressed upon the students the importance of mentioning the “roles and responsibilities” they have carried out in their CVs instead of only mentioning the “job titles.” This provides future employers with clarity regarding what the applicant is capable of. Ms. Rahman also discouraged the students to refrain from any falsehood on their CVs.

This workshop provided the students with advice and suggestions on how to structure the most effective CV for an undergraduate student completing their BA in English. It was an invaluable experience for students who are soon to brave the intricacies of joining the workforce.
