ENG 4298/4299/4208 in Spring 2026

Eligibility Criteria:

Prerequisite:

  • Must have completed ENG 435: Research Methodology/ ENG 4101: Research Methodology course.

  • If  Fall 2025 is the student’s penultimate term.

Individual Course Requirements:

If you have completed ENG 4101 in Fall 2023 or later, the following criteria are applicable to you:

  • For ENG 4299: Dissertation, at least a grade of B+ in ENG 4101 and CGPA 3.50.

  • For ENG 4298: Internship, at least a grade of B in ENG 4101 and CGPA 3.30.

  • For ENG 4208 : Advanced Composition and Stylistics, B- or below in ENG 4101 

If you have completed ENG 435 in Spring 2021 or earlier, the following criteria are applicable to you:

  • For ENG 4299: Dissertation, at least a grade of B in ENG 435.

  • For ENG 4298: Internship, at least a grade of B- in ENG 435.

  • For ENG 4208 : Advanced Composition and Stylistics, C or below in ENG 435.

How to fill up the form:

  1. Download the soft copy of the Internship/ Dissertation/ Advanced course checklist from the email notice or from the DEH website.  

  2. Complete the checklist with the help of your recent grade report. You can get a copy from the DEH office. Or email  Sanjib Kumar Sardar. 

  3. Type all the courses that you have done and write the term in the following format: “Summer 2023” (NOT as 223 or as “Summer 23”).

  4. Include all the courses you are doing in Fall 2025 in the correct rows and columns leaving the grade box empty.  

  5. In case of pending course/s that you plan to take in Spring 2026 in addition to ENG 4299/4298/4208, mention the course code in the correct section keeping the grade row empty and write the term as Spring 2026.

  6. KINDLY make sure that you are NOT breaking the format of the form.

  7. Submit the printed version of the form at the DEH office after collecting your advisor’s signature in person. You do not need to collect The Coordinator’s signature.  

  8. Send the soft copy of the filled up form to Sanjib Kumar Sardar ([email protected]). 

  9. The Coordinator will assign your course based on the eligibility criteria listed above.

 Special Notes

  • Students are allowed to do one (1) course in addition to ENG 4299/4298/4208. Students can register for it during pre-registration.

  • To take more than one course in addition to ENG 4299/4298/4208, please write an application to the Head of DEH. Attach the copy of the approval with your checklist.

  • After the verification of the grade of ENG 435: Research Methodology or ENG 4101: Research Methodology and other course requirements, students will be registered MANUALLY in ENG 4299 or 4298 or 4208 as appropriate. 

  • Students cannot automatically choose ENG 4208 (instead of thesis/ internship). They must apply to the HOD with appropriate justification for the request.

  • Students will be registered manually. Thus, they will not see ENG 4299 or 4298 or 4208 courses on URMS during pre-registration. 

  • Students will see the course appearing on their URMS account at the beginning of Spring 2026.
