The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a workshop titled “Presentation Skills” on Thursday, December 4, 2025. This workshop was facilitated by Ms. Nadia Rahman, Assistant Professor, DEH. It was designed for the undergraduate students enrolled in the courses ENG 4208, ENG 4298, and ENG 4299. The Masters students were encouraged to attend the workshop as well. It was a lively and interactive session that gave the students many valuable insights into the topic.

Ms. Rahman commenced the workshop by having a discussion on what aspects of presentation students struggle with the most. She then proceeded to introduce the various key elements of an ideal presentation, emphasizing on proper time management and completion of the presentation. She stressed the importance of pacing the preparation and the presentation aspect equally since only good preparation can result in a confident performance. This brought the discussion to the topic of the 4 Ps of Presentation: Plan, Prepare, Practice, and Perform.

The facilitator then moved on to discuss the various messages the presenter delivers during their performance. These messages (physical, visual, story) entail various aspects such as body language, font size on slides, and structure of delivery. Ms. Rahman cautioned the students against using garish colors or illegible fonts on slides, and reminded them to keep the font styles, colors, and sizes consistent. Additionally, Ms. Rahman reminded students that different electronic devices may have fonts that they are not compatible with. The presenter must keep this in mind and prepare with the extra time they might need for troubleshooting.

Presentation skill is one of the most essential skills in a student’s repertoire. It can come to use in any field of study or work. This workshop provided the students with many useful guidelines to presenting efficiently and effectively.
