On December 18, 2025, the Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized a workshop titled “What’s Next?” catered for the students enrolled in ENG 4208, ENG 4298, and ENG 4299 as well as the MA students. This workshop, facilitated by Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman, Head of the Department, was focused specifically on guiding the graduating students through the process of exploring higher education opportunities both abroad and at ULAB.

Ms. Rahman first talked about the importance of graduate studies, explaining how it can make a student more competitive, improve field specialization, provide broader networking opportunities, boost current earnings, etc. Her thoughts on these matters gave an impactful understanding of the significance of higher studies. Ms. Rahman made the workshop more helpful by mentioning the requirements for graduate studies applications. She explained that applications for programs abroad require extensive preparation like making updated CVs and Statements of Purpose (SOPs), collecting academic transcripts and certificates as well as recommendation letters and other documents, some of which may be required specifically by different institutions. She urged the students to start their application processes as soon as possible since this process might take up to a year.

Ms. Rahman also talked about the facilities of graduate studies available at ULAB. Providing detailed insights into the department’s MA program, she explained the significance of making productive use of time after graduation by enrolling in postgraduate studies, whether the students choose to stay at ULAB or abroad. The course instructor, Ms. Nadia Rahman, Assistant Professor, DEH, also explained how ULAB’s MA program can prepare them for Masters’ and even doctoral programs abroad. Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman brought the workshop to a conclusion by reminding students that graduate study can significantly increase career prospects and professional development.
