The Department of English and Humanities at ULAB held its Spring 2026 BA and MA Theses Defense on May 2, 2026 as the culminating assessment of the students’ respective degree programs.

Of the forty-six graduating students from the BA in English program, thirteen students completed their dissertations or internships in Literature and Cultural Studies or Applied Linguistics and TESOL while the rest completed the non-thesis option. The students presented their research work before the faculty members and their peers. They were also required to respond to questions from the audience.

Of the thirteen graduating students from the MA in English program, eight defended their theses in front of their supervisors and an external examiners from other universities as well as their peers. The process of defending a thesis before an external helps to uphold the quality of the research work produced by the students. The MA students were required to respond to critical questioning from the external examiners.
