Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, recognized as a leading researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI), EdTech, and New Media in Applied Linguistics and Education in Bangladesh, is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). He holds a PhD in Communication (New Media and Language) from Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology, formerly known as Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he investigated the effects of new media use on learner motivation, collaboration, and English language skill acquisition at the tertiary level in Bangladesh. He completed his MA in TESOL with distinction from Brac University and his BA in English from Comilla University. Known for teaching strengths including deep content mastery, clear communication, and genuine empathy, he fosters inclusive, engaging learning environments, simplifies complex ideas, and remains deeply committed to student growth and success.
Dr. Mahadhi maintains active international research collaborations with distinguished scholars from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Florida State University, and the University of Texas at El Paso in the United States. Prior to joining ULAB, he taught at Brac University, Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology, University Putra Malaysia, East West University, and Southeast University. He has delivered 13 invited talks across Malaysia, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh and conducted 20 workshops on various topics at home and abroad. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated innovation in branding, organizing large-scale events, leading student clubs, debating, and serving society. He remains committed to lifelong learning and teaching in order to enlighten the students he serves.
His research interests span Applied Linguistics and TESOL, AI in Education, Critical AI, EdTech, Teacher Education, and Technology and Ethics in Education. His recent publications focus primarily on artificial intelligence in language education, including personalized learning, academic integrity, e-assessments, and student learning experiences, as well as on teacher development topics such as blended thesis supervision, teaching practicum, and professional development during COVID-19. He has also published on the effects of English-medium instruction on student performance, perceptions of plagiarism among Bangladeshi teachers, literary ecocriticism, diasporic identity in Amitav Ghosh's works, and the use of Facebook in ELT. With numerous articles in Scopus-indexed and other refereed journals, both locally and internationally, Dr. Mahadhi continues to advance the ethical integration of technology and AI in language education across Bangladesh and beyond.
