DEH Workshop on Photography and Story-telling
The Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held a workshop titled “Let Your Photographs Tell the Story” at its Dhanmondi campus on Thursday, March 2, 2017.
The session was conducted by Ms. Mahmuda Yasmin Shaila, Assistant Professor of DEH. Paper Canoe, the ULAB Literary Society, organized the program.
Ms. Shaila started the workshop off by stating, “In a certain environment, a photograph from a specific individual student could reveal many untold stories about that person, thus creating an opportunity for exchange of knowledge.
She also discussed the connection between Literacy and Photography. She said that when a person is told to take a self-portrait and write about that, many unknown things about the self may be revealed.
The second part of the workshop consisted of the viewing of the 10 best photos where the photographers got the chance to describe their stories behind their photos and give the audience a better chance to understand them.
Hasan Al Zayed, advisor of Paper Canoe and Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Head of DEH, were also present among others. They handed over certificates to the participants.
