Art for Social Change

Joan Marie Kelly , Singapore-based American artist affiliated with Nanyang Technological University, gave a talk on “Art Practice as Pedagogy Situated in Students Lived Experiences” on August 3 at 2:30pm in the Auditorium. The discussion focused on her most recent social art events between Bangladesh and Indian foreign workers and a group of engineering students in Singapore. She also discussed about a series of art making workshops with sex workers in Kolkata India. Lastly she talked on “Language Made Visible,” an interdisciplinary collaboration with Linguists, illustrators and the communities of oral speakers.
