Some of the most acclaimed professors of English in the country engaged in a lively discussion on their individual spirit animals at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on Tuesday. The event was organized by ULAB’s Department of English and Humanities (DEH).

ULAB DEH faculty members Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, Professor Kaiser Haq, Professor Fakrul Alam, Professor Azfar Hussain, Professor Golam Sarwar Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Professor Shaila Sultana and Dr Sohana Manzoor talked about their own animal totems.

Former State Minister for Foreign Affairs Abul Hasan Chowdhury was present as the Chief Guest at the event, while ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor HM Jahirul Haque was the Guest of Honor.

The professors each presented their own interpretations and experiences on respective animals which included ducks, bears, coyotes, dogs, cats, whales, snakes, and bats. They drew inspiration from different literary texts to present their arguments on how the human psyche embodies these animals and how the animals guide the human spirit.

The event was telecast live on Facebook and was well attended by faculty members and students of ULAB and guests.
